2004

2004 saw the first models from Dapol in N Gauge with a fairly quick start with some pre-diesel outline coaches, Syphons, Gunpowder Vans and a Steam Locomotive.

Electric Locomotives

Dapol's first modern image locomotive was the Class 73/1 Electro-Diesel. The model incorporated a split frame chassis, flywheels, blackened wheels and where relevant, white LED Hi-Intensity light.

This was the first fully new British outline locomotive for five years, the Farish Class 87 electric being the last. The amazing fact was the announcement of this locomotive at Warley 2003 and its appearance at Warley 2004 - a year from start to finish!

Class 73 was initially released in EW&S and SWT liveries.

Coaches

First coaches produced were GWR B-Sets and Autocoaches in various liveries from Chocolate/Cream to BR Maroon, unfortunately not within the bounds of this website.

Next release were Collett Corridors, in Composite, Second (Third) and Brake Composite variants in GWR Chocolate/Cream, each coach type was released with two running numbers, a rake of six coaches could be run.

Freight Stock

Range of CCTs released including BR Green, Maroon and Blue variants.

2005

Dapol announced a huge list of new Modern Image stock at the 2005 N Gauge Society AGM, the list include Class 66 in a multitude of liveries and numbers, Class 150 DMU, Class 03/04 Shunter and a batch of wagons; again to be produced in many liveries and numbers.

Diesel Locomotives

At the end of October, Dapol released the first four EWS Class 66s, well ahead of the projected Warley release date, the rest followed shortly after. The 66 had working head and tail lamps, they were released in small batches (~250) of each number.

Coaches

In September the first coaches that can be included (just) in our era were released, a batch of six Colletts in Corridor Composite Brake, Corridor Composite and Corridor Third guises, all in BR Crimson/Cream livery (BR Maroon to follow); these coaches lasted as late as 1964 so some diesel haulage was very likely.

Freight Stock

Dogfish released with ten different running numbers.

2006

In 2006 the Class 150 DMU, Class 03/04 Shunter were dropped, mainly due to Bachmanns announcement that they would be undertaking these - however Dapol did add some Cargo Waggons to their production list.

The surprise of 2006 was the announcement a few days prior to Warley of the production of 4-Car Class 220 Voyagers

At Warley a number of new projects were announce for 2007, including upgraded Class 73s, a 73 JA type, revised Class 66s and a range of new wagons.
